WINTER COAT

After their recent Llanelli gig Fosta found out more about the band Winter Coat !!!

Who are winter coat and where are you from? Winter Coat are Jennifer Dawn (vocals/guitar), Adam Vaughan (guitar/vocals), Jonny Campbell (drums) and Daryl Watts (bass). Currently based in Cardiff with members from Swansea and Llanelli too. How long have you been together? As a full band, we’ve been together about 6 months. Jen and Jonny started playing together at the end of 2014 with Daryl and Adam joining in early 2015. How would you describe your music? Dreamy pop accompanied by euphoric swells and wistful, reverb-laden vocals. What plans do you have for the rest of the year and 2016? We are releasing our debut E.P. titled ‘Drifting’ on 23 October with an E.P. launch show at Four Bars on the same day. We’ll continue to play live shows and write new songs throughout 2015 with the view to record and release our second E.P. in early 2016. What is your favourite winter coat song and why? If pushed to decide I’d probably have to go for Waiting at the Stop which will be the first track on the E.P. It’s one of the first songs we wrote and I feel that we really captured the song during the recording process. I love that the song is so subdued and morose until the ending comes in like a tidal wave introducing a horn section, multiple vocal-layers and some killer guitar parts. What are the best and worst things about being in a band? The best thing about being in a band is this amazing feeling you get when you’ve been working on a song and it finally comes together and everyone in the room feels it. The worst thing is that there’s no definitive way to secure a career in the music industry. A lot of your band’s success is dependent on luck and you just have to do everything you can to increase the chances of that luck coming your way. Being in a band can sometimes be very frustrating.
