The Angelo Tristan Band

The current trend of quality touring bands playing in Llanelli continued with The Angelo Tristan band from Kent. This was only the second date of their debut UK tour so I don’t think the band or the audience knew what to expect from each other but it didn’t take long for the decent sized crowd to warm to the band.

The band are definitely fans of the big power ballads and epic finishes which always gets a great reaction from the crowd. It’s not often that my band, who opened the night, are the heavier band in a Masons gig. It was no surprise to hear that the band were fans of Bon Jovi and they played a set within a set, filling the middle of their set with cover songs, mainly Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi are the kind of band that splits opinions, some people love them, some people hate them but luckily for the band, there were more lovers of Bon Jovi than haters that night. It also helps that landlord, Kris, plays in an 80s tribute band so the locals are well used to singing along to Living on a Prayer and their other hits.

The band have some great songs themselves … being a favourite of mine. The band were all top class musicians and Angelo is a very charismatic front man. I suspect that he could always pronounce Llanelli with no trouble but he did have some fun with the crowd teaching him how to say the double l’s in Welsh.

This was another touring band who enjoyed their time in town and they stayed until late in the night chatting and sharing a drink with their new fans. They even found someone who let them stay around his house to save them cramming into the tour van for the night. I’m sure they will be back soon as I hope to see an even bigger crowd next time.
