Stand Up And Shout

Stand Up and Shout have been regulars on the local music scene for a few years now. This week I find out more about the people behind the music.

Tell us about the bands - members etc ?

We are a four piece band with four guys from the Cwm Gwendraeth area. On drums we have Aidan Kiely, on bass Matthew Clark, on rhythm guitar Rhodri Powell and on Lead Guitar and Vocals we have Laurence Lewis.

How long have you been together?

We've been playing as the band stands now for around 3 years but myself, Rhodri and Laurence have been in a band for best part of 6 years.

How would you describe your music ?

I'd say our music is a bit of a mixed bag from our first EP material to our more recent tracks. We go from Pop Rock to Hard Rock and play a range of covers too!

What makes you different from other bands ?

I guess what makes us different from other bands is the spectrum of music we cover and the energy we bring to the stage when we play our shows.

What is the best and worst thing about being in a band?

I'd have to say the best thing about being in a band is playing some amazing venues with crowds that are there for the music and seeing them sing along and getting involved is always a great feeling for all of us. One of the worst things is probably finding these great venues at first because there not always as easy to find in some circumstances. Also I'd say as a band, organising practises and rehearsals always proves to be difficult!

Can you tell us about what influences your lyrics and music ?

All four of us have quite different music tastes and I think that rings through in how diverse our originals are and the spread of our covers choices! We enjoy bands like Royal Blood, Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters.

What plans do you have for the rest of the year?

We're hoping to make our second EP/Album in the next few months with our newest material on it. This will go along with our current EP which is fully available on our Soundcloud account!

What can people who come out and see you live expect?

When you come to see a Stand Up and Shout gig you can expect some high energy and catchy songs!
