Everyday Heroes & Reece at The Masons
We had another two bands travelling from the East to join us in Llanelli last Friday; Everyday Heroes from Newport and first
up, Reece from Caerphilly. Although as a band, Reece, have only been going for a year, the members of the band are all experienced musicians. I spoke to their guitarist after the gig about his set-up and he told me that he had been perfecting his sound for twenty years and it showed on stage, this band had a very professional sound. Obviously, the drawback with being a three piece with a great sound is the amount of time it takes you to pack away all the equipment but I think it was well worth the effort as a number of people in the audience remarked on how polished the band sounded. The boys played their own original pop-rock songs and an excellent cover of Audioslaves’ Like A Stone. Recommended Llanelli gig buddies; Holoson.
Everyday Heroes have played the Masons previously although when talking to the band before they went on stage I realised that they were not the Austrian pop-punk band that I thought they were. I was not a million miles away though as the boys did play with Dirty Wink, last time they were in town and they were an Austrian pop-punk band. It was when vocalist Luke belted out the first line of the first song that I instantly remembered the band and why the landlord wanted to get them back in his venue. The band may all be quite young but their sound reminded me of the better quality 80s rock bands with quite a sleazy blues rock feel.
The boys are all proficient musicians who also write some great rock tunes and put on one hell of a show. Bass player Lewis may only be 19 years old but but he has already has the confidence to strut around the stage like he has been gigging for decades and he did it all with a big grin on his face. The band threw in a cover of Whisky in the Jar and if they weren’t already having a lot of success playing their own songs, they could definitely have a career as a Metallica cover band. The crowd really got behind the band and it’s not often you see a room full of people singing along to the chorus of a song that they have never heard before by a band they were seeing for the first time but that is what happened tonight. I had great fun chatting to the band after their gig and I can not wait until the next time I get to see them play. Recommended Llanelli gig buddies; Beautiful Strangers.
