Introducing Viagara Falls !!

By Trudi Goldsmith ( Jan 2017)

On our radar this week is a relatively new band on the scene ‘Viagara Falls’ and they are looking for gigs in the local area. Read on to find out a bit more about the band.

Can you tell me about the band? ( eg members and role)

It's a five piece with seasoned musicians. We've all paid our dues! We have:

Baggy - Vocals

Big John - Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals

Henry - Bass Guitar

Col - Keyboards

Davey - Drums

Where are the band based?

We're all Llanelli and Swansea area based.

Where did you get the name for the band and who chose it?

The name came from a suggestion made by a friend. The five old goats then sat down and decided to go with it, hoping it would only be interpreted as irony!

What kind of music do you play ? Covers or originals

It's all covers. 60s and 70s classic rock and blues with a real good time feel. There's quite a variety of material in the set and we hope everybody will leave our gigs happy and having heard stuff they can really relate to.

How long have you been together?

We've been together for about 6 months and have been busy creating and honing the set as well as doing some recording.

Do you have any memorable gig stories?

We don't have any collectively yet as 2017 is the year that's going to mark our debut as far as traditional venues are concerned. I guess we all could weigh in with individual gig stories including Davey the drummer's gig with a blues band in Watford where a gun was pulled. Maybe we'll put a few stories into the spiel for the set!

What is the best and worst thing about being in a band?

Best thing is definitely working together with great musos and really communicating with audiences. Worst thing? Being diplomatic and putting aside typical musos reticence to get the gigs to get us in front of people. The rest of it's a joy really.

How would you sell the band to any promotors or venues looking to book you ? Eg what can people expect from the band?

A band that lets the music speak for itself but still puts on a show. Dynamism, some light and shade alongside the breadth of sound we're able to produce with a five piece. If people want to dance we're happy with that. Oh yes, and we're reliable and we communicate.

Where can people check out the band and listen to your music online?

Despite our advanced ages, we've somehow managed to cobble a Facebook page together that has studio and a couple of rehearsal live tracks on it:

Check out Viagara Falls on the link above and if you’re interested in booking them get in touch on their Facebook page.

Thanks to Dave Ward for answering my questions about the band.
