Q&A With Nigel!!
With Trudi Goldsmith
In the first Llanelli Rock Scene gig of the year on Saturday 21st January Windshake and Zed Motel will be joined by Nigel for a night of live rock music at The Masons Arms Llanelli. In the first of a trio of interviews I find out more about Nigel!!
Where did you come up with the name Nigel ?
We came up with the name out of nowhere, means nothing at all we just said it as a laugh and it stuck.
Who is in the band?
Toby Lee on vocals; James Cousins on drums; Alias Booker on bass and Leon Bowen on guitar.
What kind of music do you play ? Originals or covers?
We play original music.
Who are your influences?
We are heavily inspired by bands such as Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Kyuss, Black Sabbath, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Deftones, anything from the 90s era that we are devastated we missed.
How long have you been together?
We have been together for around a year and have been gigging for around 6 months.
What made you want to play Llanelli ?
We wanted to play Llanelli because it seems like an area that isn't too recognised for a music scene (could be wrong because we haven't played here before) But these kinds of areas tend to have a great following for underground music.
What makes you different from other bands?
We are different from current bands because we write about stuff we care about, not girls and parties but stuff that is actually important in our views.
What is the best and worst thing about being in a band?
The best thing about being in a band is that it is the way we express ourselves and enjoy a good outlet of energy and there is no bad part because it's what we live for.
Where can people find out more about Nigel?
We really don't like the way social media has become such a large part of the music industry because it has made people lazy and not dedicated to an actual "good night out" where they can discover new music and scenes. Saying that, the only way we can be recognised nowadays is through Facebook, so you can find our page on there at https://www.facebook.com/nigelbanduk/
Anything else you want to say to promote the band?
Want to see something raw and new with that high energy vibe? make sure you come to this show. We try to keep things old school here and write music to question you sobriety! Cheers!
