Ink’d & Malum Sky live at The Masons Arms Llanelli 25/03/17

Playing to a fairly busy crowd, Malum Sky’s set was in full swing when I arrived at the venue. At the bar, Masons regular, Chris was nodding his head to the music and he turned to me and said ‘ This band is brilliant, especially their first and third song of their set’. He was that impressed with the band that he insisted I type the band’s name into his phone so he could look them up online when he got home! When Malum Sky played the Masons last, they had a different singer. Last time I was impressed by their musicianship and their progressive rock sound but this time their music reached a whole new level with their current singer and the whole dynamic of the band was upped a further notch with their excellent sound; their stage presence and their vibrant performance as a whole. On hearing some of their original tunes I remembered the guitar intros from the last time which is a testament to how memorable and catchy the music is. The band sounded lively and energetic, and their musicianship was top quality. Definitely a band to watch out for! Hope to see Malum Sky back at the venue soon. Headlining the evening were ‘ Ink’d’ a band well known for playing the venue over the past year or so. Ink’d are a rock cover band who never fail to entertain with the big vocals of singer Samantha Millward fronting cover tunes from AC/DC & Guns n Roses to Def Leppard and The Cranberries. Mid set Sam took a break from vocals and the guitarist took centre stage on vocals for a few tracks which included a top version of The Arctic Monkeys tune ‘You Look Good On The Dancefloor’ & The Kings Of Leon’s ‘Molly’s Chamber’. This followed Sam’s return to vocals for a medley of Metallica’s ‘ Enter Sandman’ and Journey’s ‘Small Town Girl’ and other great cover tunes including Bon Jovi’s ‘Dead or Alive’. Great set!
