Sepulchre: Meet The Artists - P4MH Swansea Alternative Big Weekend
Punks 4 MH Swansea Big Alternative Weekend 25th to 27th May !
This bank holiday weekend Creature Sound, Swansea, welcomes an action packed weekend of live musical talent in the P4MH event which was organised by Damian Harris drummer of World Vs World & Fat Wreck. The event in association with Death Monkey Records and Welsh Connections kicks off on a Friday 25th May at 7pm. This is a family friendly event and costs £4.50 for adults for the entire weekend and kids are free. Proceeds go to Matt’s café which is a homeless project based on Swansea High Street. Attendees are also asked to kindly bring food or practical donations to help the homeless members of the community who depend on Matt’s café.
Heading up Friday night of the Swansea Big Alternative Weekend are Sepulchre . I found out a bit more about the band ahead of this weekends event!! Tell me about your band? We're Sepulchre with Daz on Guitar and lead vocals, Aimee on Drums and Chris on Bass and backing vocals. How long have you been together? The band formed in the mid 00s with Daz, Aimee and a few others. Overtime Chris joined and others left so we became an extreme metal power trio. Who are your musical influences? Slayer, Entombed, Carcass, Carnivore, Desecration - just really heavy, dark, preferably fast metal bands. How would you describe your music ? 30% Thrash metal, 25% Death metal, 20% Grindcore, 15% Groove metal, 7% Doom and 3% Hard-core Punk. But who's counting? 😉 Are there any of the bands who are playing Swansea’s Alternative weekend that you are looking forward to seeing? Godkilla and In Which It Burns slay it everytime we see them. WvW are never dull to watch or hear. Fat Wreck are worth checking out and it's our first time seeing Not the Sex Pistols. Ben Luc is the master of one-man bands and Sarah Passmore is probably the best guitarists of her generation. Punks 4 Mental Health is about challenging stigma around mental ill health . What does it mean to your band to be playing this event? Mental health is a big inspiration on our songs as we have sufferers of depression and anxiety in the band so being a part of Punks 4 Mental Health is a honour for us. We're lucky enough to be able to put our negative experiences and fears into our music. The stigma for poor mental health is getting less prominent but the care is not always there due to limited NHS funding so we hope we can help others who have it worse than us. What can people expect from your band if they come out to see you ? You can expect heavy riffs, headbanging and a few jokes. It's hard to stay too serious when you're playing the music you love. 😎 If Darren waffles on between songs tell him to 'get on with it'...and don't encourage Chris by shouting 'Bass solo' - we don't need that torture!
