Gig Night 100,000 Body Bags

Fat Wreck & 100,000 Bodybags live at The Masons Arms Llanelli 07/04/17

I have seen a lot of bands over the last few years and I must admit that do get bands mixed up sometimes. Three that I always get confused with each other are 100,000 Body Bags, Track star/Porn star and Daddy’s Little Cowboy. I don’t mind admitting that I get these three mixed up though as all three bands have the same members. Daddy’s Little Cowboy are a punk cover band in the style of Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, covering such songs as Y.M.C.A. and The Time Warp. Trackstar/Pornstar are an original punk band playing their own songs and playing in Llanelli last weekend were 100,000 Body Bags, who aren’t a punk band.

100,000 Body Bags actually sounded more Goth to me, albeit on the more upbeat scale of Goth, similar to The Fall and Joy Division (if Joy Division can ever be considered upbeat). I probably thought of these two bands as a lot of their tracks were led by a fuzz-heavy bass line. Although opening act, Fat Wreck (featuring Trackstar/Pornstar and Daddy’s Little Cowboy’s bass player, Julian, just to confuse me further) may have had a larger crowd watching them cover 90s punk bands such as Rancid and The Descendants, 100,000 Body Bags did supply a more unusual and unique sound and I always enjoy hearing something different from the norm.
