Introducing……….. A Night Like This
I caught up with Ronan from the band following their recent Llanelli town gig.
Who are A Night Like This? A night like this are : Dom Hoven - vocals Josef Lovett - bass Callum Funning - guitar Ronan Samolinski - drums
How would you describe your music ? Alternative rock with an ambient and post hardcore edge. Who writes the tunes and lyrics to your music ? Dom writes the lyrics along with Josef Callum usually writes the riffs and we put it all together in practice. Then we pretty much work on it and practice it till its gig ready.
Why did you choose the Masons Arms in Llanelli to play ?
The masons is a home show for me and I love the place and the people. Plus the other boys in the band have never played there so Makes it more fun for all of us and gives the masons another band to enjoy. What's the best and worst thing about being in a band?
Honestly being in this band is amazing everything from the writing to hanging out or even chatting to our manager online everything becomes fun. There is no negativity in this band and we all get along so well. Like a little family. As it stands I can honestly say there is no bad part about being in this band. What makes you different from other bands? I think what makes us different is we can't pin point a band we actually sound like despite our influences which I guess is a good thing. We are not afraid to play any show anywhere. And no matter if the crowd is 10 or 10,000 we always put in 100%. What can people who come out to watch the band play live expect?
Turn up I promise you won't be disappointed. I know I'm not wrong there. Haha. What is your favourite song to play live?
I'll be honest every song in the set I love playing but I think it's gotta be survival. It's one of them tracks that grips you. I think the other boys may have different opinions but personally mine is survival.
Where can people find out more about your music e.g. Any recordings etc
Mostly Facebook. We are also involved with Hightide promotions so they can also help with linking anyone to us. What plans to the band have for the rest of the year? So far we’ve got a tour booked in May and also got a full PR campaign to run, along with photoshoots and music video for the latest single (survival). We are going to go into a studio to record this year and fully intend on working hard everyday to keep writing great music and making ourselves better musicians and closer friends within the band.
